Google has announced that there will be no more updates to its search algorithm this year.

In truth, Google has always been notoriously quiet around the Christmas time since the uproar of the Florida update in 2003, which many retailers blamed for massive profit losses over the festive period.

However, it was thought that some retailers’ whose rankings fell in the last Panda update were expecting Google to correct what they believed to be mistakes.

The last official Panda update was version 3.1, which occurred on November 18th and affected 35 per cent of search results. Many industry experts have predicted that updates will continue to occur on a regular basis once the New Year celebrations have died down.
